The Windkraftanlage "Alte Schanze" near Immenhausen (north of Kassel) came on stream in autumn 1995.
It consists of five wind generators, three TW 600 made by the German company Tacke Windtechnik and two V 42/600 from Vestas in Denmark. In total, they have a rated output of 3 MW, and the eco-friendly electricity they produce (approx. 4 million kWh per year) supplies the medium-voltage grid of the E.ON Mitte AG.
ISET, the Institut für Solare Energieversorgungstechnik (Institute for Solar Energy Supply Technology) in Kassel, uses the generators for developing and testing prototype wind generators and their components, and in addition prototype solar energy systems.
